Four people killed in suspected drunk driving accident

Car accidents happen every day in the Norfolk area, as well as anywhere else. Sometimes accidents are unavoidable or happen because of simple mistakes. However, other times, car accidents happen due to negligent or drunk drivers. When a person is injured because of a negligent or drunk driver he or she might be entitled to receive compensation for his or her injuries.

At least four families are mourning the deaths of their loved ones after they were in an accident involving a man who was allegedly driving drunk. According to reports, five people were riding in a Honda Civic when the man driving a Dodge van apparently drove through a red light and smashed into the Honda. Four of the passengers were killed at the scene, while the fifth person was taken to the hospital.

Investigators say that the 33-year-old driver of the vehicle appeared to be driving under the influence at the time of the accident. He did reportedly provide officers with both a blood sample and a breath test. Authorities have charged the man with four counts of intoxication manslaughter.

This is obviously a tragic event, which has affected the lives of family members of the four people who died as well as the other person who was injured. This man is facing serious charges and if he is convicted he could be ordered to pay damages to the families of those who were killed and to the person who was injured. Likewise, if you have been hurt in an accident then you too might be eligible for compensation. Speaking with a lawyer may be a good idea.
