Many people in the Norfolk area get around from place-to-place in cars and trucks. However, other motorists use motorcycles, instead, including some of the area’s law enforcement officers. Although riding a motorcycle can be dangerous, it’s important for those driving larger vehicles to pay attention to motorcyclists and share the road.
Two police officers are still recovering from injuries they suffered when the motorcycles they were riding were struck by another vehicle. One of the officers, a 29-year-old man, was treated at the hospital and later released. However, the other officer, a 37-year-old man, reportedly suffered more serious injuries. According to reports, among his injuries he had a broken leg that will require him to have surgery.
The accident happened when the alleged driver of the vehicle who struck the officers was apparently trying to make a left-hand U-turn from the far right lane. However, the two officers were in the left lane and were struck by the vehicle. So far no charges have been filed against the female driver, but they could still be pending depending what the investigation turns up.
Thankfully these two officers did not suffer a worse fate. Anytime someone is hurt due to a careless or negligent driver, then he or she might be entitled to compensation for his or her injuries. Likewise, if you have been hurt in a car crash or other motor vehicle accident, then you might be eligible to receive damages. Now might be a good time to speak with a personal injury lawyer.
